The weather conditions in the Atlantic Ocean have required MSC to change the itinerary for the MSC Poesia this weekend. It will not be calling in Hamilton, Bermuda on September 18 as originally scheduled. Instead, the Poesia will sail to Boston, MA for her maiden-call at 9 a.m. and depart on September 20 at 7 a.m. After sailing along the US Coast, she arrives in New York City on Tuesday, September 21 as scheduled. The line reports that this change is necessary to …
I just learned that Cruise West has suspended all bookings and voided all current bookings on their ship Spirit of Oceanus from today. The company is restructuring its operations, and the first step is the sale of the Spirit of Oceanus. CruiseWest is also reporting that other company assets may be sold in the midst of this restructuring effort. Ticketed passengers for this Saturday need not worry, however. The company confirms that all CruiseWest departures are operating …
Oceania, one of my all-time favorite lines, has always struck a great balance onboard of food, fitness, and fun. I love work out on these ships; (is it really a workout if the sea wind is blowing in your hair?) because they have wonderful amenities. Oceania’s new ship, the Marina, set to launch in January 2011, will carry on this fine tradition, boasting innovative, broad-spectrum health and fitness facilities, in addition to the requisite sumptuous accommodations and …
No one wants to cancel a reservation for a cruise, but sometimes things happen and it’s just unavoidable. The cruise lines have made provisions for these cancellations, and Royal Caribbean recently made some changes to their policy. All reservations made after August 1st, 2010 are subject to the new rules, and these are some of the highlights: • You will get a full refund if you notify Celebrity Cruises® or Royal Caribbean International® in writing at least …
I love to cruise on Crystal; the line attends to every detail and whim, and always does so with a sense of genuine thoughtfulness and class. It’s no surprise, then, that Crystal has improved on what was an already well-thought out process. They’ve now launched their new Priority Check-In and Planning Center on July 29th as a valuable tool for their sea-faring guests. The Planning center can be used prior to sailing to complete a number of …
Although I have not had the pleasure of a hotel barge cruise, for some reason, I am fascinated by the thought of one. In fact, I have spoken several times with the owner of European Waterways, his name is Derek and we will soon be on one of the barges so I will be able to properly write about this type of cruise. (I cannot wait to share this experience with you!) This is what I do …

I have not yet been onboard the Epic, but my friend Donna, whom I have known for many years, and is a most discerning cruiser, just returned from a cruise and sent me her notes on her impressions of the ship. Below are the highlights (Thanks, Donna!): Ships Appearance: The Norwegian Epic is by far the prettiest ship I have ever seen. The decor is subtle and well done. Cabins/Suites:…I thought they were beautiful. I have never …
