Congratulations Are In Order For Regent Seven Seas Cruises!

The Wonderful Experience Of Small Ships

Looking for a vacation that feeds the mind and soul?  I love the experience of cruising on a small ship…the intimacy, the quiet relaxation, and the distinctive blend of personalities that makes each trip so unique… Here are a number of truly great reasons to consider a cruise on a small expedition ship, river cruise ship or a hotel barge:   1.  Smaller ships often put the focus on the environment, and offer programs to support green travel and the …

ACL Brings Cruises To The Mississippi River

River cruises are a whole different experience in cruising, and one of my favorites.  The slow roll of the current as it wends its way through the scenic countryside, with its unique destinations, is an experience not to be missed. These cruises can be hard to come by in the U.S., so I was pleased to hear that American Cruise Lines (ACL) is bringing the river cruise experience here in 2012. ACL recently announced that it is …

CruiseWest Closes Its Doors

Sad news for loyal customers of small ship cruise line Cruise West: the line officially closed its operations this past weekend, on September 18, 2010. The line, which had operated for nearly 64 years, had aggressively pursued financing options over the last year to maintain operations, but was unable to procure the necessary funds.  CruiseWest’s CEO and Managing Director Dick West is “…heartbroken that this family legacy has come to an end.” With the exception of the …
