Music Connects With Many

MUSIC CONNECTS WITH MANY Anna Werner is cruise director of MSC Poesia. She has been with MSC for 11 years and has her work cut out for her on a ship with more than 400 Germans, 400 Australians, more than 200 Italians, several hundred Americans, and a mixed bag of passengers from other countries, including Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Russian Federation and Slovakia. Yep, entertaining everybody is challenging, and Anna says “music is a good thing, it connects with …

Cozumel: Taco, Touring and Tans

I watched from the Lido Deck, as I was having coffee, and saw hundreds of MSC Poesia disembarking for tours of the magnificent ruins of Tulum, to shop for popular sterling silver that is still a fair bargain here or heading to the beaches with hats and sunscreen in tow. Others get off the ship to sample local Mexican cuisine, some tacos, a chimchanga or perhaps a margarita or two. There’s a party atmosphere in this port, …

Cristobal, Panama has a worldwide mystique.

Cristobal, Panama has a worldwide mystique. Many of my fellow passengers, heeding the call to visit the Panama Canal’s Gatun Locks climbed off MSC Poesia early this morning to get up close and personal with the Canal. I personally spoke to at least a dozen guests who purposely booked this MSC Poesia cruise in order to see the Canal. Cristobal and Colon were named for Christopher Columbus. Cristobal was created in 1914 as a port of entry …

Coral Princess docked next door and the two vessels loaded dozens of sharp looking motor coaches to tour the city, nearby Rosario Island or the mangrove swamps. I had called here on …

I referred  to the mix of travelers coming together on one ship, speaking dozens of languages and joining crew members primarily from Indonesia and officers from Italy in a wonderful  “it’s a small world” mixture. But taste also refers to food, and when I first sailed MSC I recall pasta and pizza as the main focal points of dining.  I don’t …

All Aboard

ALL ABOARD! I joined other passengers on MSC Poesia yesterday. The cruise actually began in New York about four days ago, but I boarded in Port Everglades, near my South Florida home.  Billed by MSC as a “Snowbird” cruise moving northeasterners to Florida – with stops at Port Everglades, Cartagena, Colombia, Cristobal, Panama and Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, before heading north again to Port Everglades. We will stop at Cozumel in Mexico on the way back. After …
