Just when we think Silversea cannot get any better, there’s Silver Nova …
Silversea Cruises® has revealed full details on the public venues aboard its new ship Silver Nova
If you’ve been among the fortunate guests aboard Silversea’s magnificent fleet, you likely think there are simply no more luxurious ships at sea. And you wouldn’t be alone. Readers of both Travel and Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler have lifted Silversea up in this year’s rankings to new heights. And no wonder! Silversea’s fleet of 11 vessels offer their guests intimate, all-suite accommodations and serve all seven continents and hundreds of ports of call. Silver Dawn, Silver Moon and Silver Muse® set the standard for luxury. Their design philosophy has been applied to fleet favorites Silver Whisper®, Silver Shadow and Silver Spirit® until they too sparkle like new. This year, too, Silversea brought the ultimate in luxury cruising to some of the most remote destinations on earth with the introduction of Silver Endeavour in Antarctica. In the Galapagos, Silver Origin®, sets a new standard in those fascinating islands. And with the transformation of Silver Cloud®, as she joins Silver Wind® and Silver Explorer® Silversea’s expedition fleet now numbers five glorious ships. But wait till you see Silver Nova.
Silver Nova sets a new standard of luxury even for Silversea …
Writing for All Things Cruise a year ago this time, we were dazzled by the promise of Silver Nova. Here’s a link to that article:
Now as details emerge, we are even more excited for the arrival this summer of 2023 of Silversea’s eleventh ship. In a radical departure from her predecessors, Silver Nova uses an innovative asymmetrical design. That means more views of the sea, more space per passenger in its 54,700 Gross Registered Tons (GRT). That allows Silver Nova to welcome 728 guests with 75 GRT each—making Silver Nova one of the most spacious cruise ships ever built. For comparison, many lines calling themselves ‘luxury’ have GRT’s only in the 50s. And those massive ships that Silversea passengers eschew? The current ‘largest ship in the world’ has just 36. Silver Nova will accommodate guests in 364 spacious suites across 13 categories—the most suite categories in Silversea’s history—including a new generation of premium suites at the ship’s aft.
Space is not the only innovation aboard Silver Nova
Silver Nova will be the most environmentally friendly ship Silversea has ever launched. Behind the scenes and below deck, Silver Nova uses ground-breaking technical solutions to carry Silversea into a future of sustainable cruising. Silversea likes to call it “the Nova way to travel.” Great credit must be given to Silversea’s newly appointed President and CEO, Barbara Muckermann. With her husband, Robert Martinoli, Former CEO and now senior advisor to Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty. the two have grown and improved Silversea over and over again. Both the highly successful S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) Culinary Arts Program and Otium, Silversea’s lavish Spa Experience, can be attributed to Ms. Muckermann’s leadership while she was Silversea’s Chief Commercial Officer. Now Ms. Muckermann points with pride to Silver Nova. “In addition to her pioneering sustainability credentials, Silver Nova will unlock a new luxury experience for our guests, offering an industry-leading variety of bars, lounges, and restaurants with an entirely new design approach for Silversea,” said Ms. Muckermann. “Silver Nova represents a milestone in our strategy to build the perfect ship for every itinerary, with her array of venues enhancing the guest experience to a new level. Pushing boundaries in ultra-luxury travel, she will enrich the social aspect of cruising to unprecedented levels, fostering the strong sense of community that is core to life on board each Silversea ship. Her openness to the destinations she visits will offer guests a new way of connecting with the world.”
Among all her firsts, Silver Nova includes the largest choice of Bars, Lounges and Restaurants in all of luxury cruising.
What’s particularly wonderful about Silver Nova’s horizontal design is the amazing flow it offers between venues. Whereas Silversea’s earlier designs placed an entire entertainment complex towards the stern of the ship, Silver Nova’s layout creates a natural flow between venues. Old familiar favorites will welcome back Silversea’s growing legion of Venetian Society members. You’ll find a choice of Silversea’s eight signature restaurants. These range from spacious open-seating venues to their most intimate dining experiences. Deck 3 will accommodate both Atlantide and the pride of Silversea, Salt Kitchen. And it’s here you will find a new destination:
Making its debut aboard Silver Nova is The Shelter. Just next to Atlantide and S.A.L.T. Kitchen, the Shelter will be a sophisticated evening-only bar accommodating just 32 guests in a very spiffy setting. One deck up, you’ll discover La Dame, Kaiseki and the indoor/outdoor La Terrazza. Deck 5 is home to Silversea’s beloved Panorama and Dolce Vita Lounges as well as Silver Note, Connoisseur’s Corner and the Casino.
Head to Deck 10 where indoors meets outdoors…
Just behind the Observation Lounge, you’ll find both S.A.L.T. Kitchen for all the self-proclaimed Gourmets aboard and a much-enlarged S.A.L.T. Bar –very welcome news to the devotées of this wonderful venue for pre and post dinner drinks with a flair for the dramatic. For outdoor diners, the newly named Marquee will be home to both The Grill– for those lava-rock steaks and Spaccanapoli– for that irresistible Pizza. And there will two bars on Deck 10. The Pool Bar and a new entry The Dusk Bar where sunsets will be served along with your cocktails. And finally, there’s the very popular Arts Café which will welcome up to 70 guests in its art-filled space. Additionally, passengers will be wowed by a three-storied atrium and a two-storied boutique.
