MSC Cruises Partners with UNICEF – ‘Get on Board for Children’

Rio de Janerio/MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises has a wonderful deal for families- children cruise free- but they also offer more for children on a grand scale.

MSC, which is family-owned (and oriented) is Brazil’s leading cruise company, and they have made the welfare of children in that country a priority by partnering with UNICEF.  The partners are working together on the “MSC for UNICEF” project to fund quality education for disadvantaged children.

Unicef’s 2009 report shows that 680,000 children and adolescents in Brazil don’t attend school… and children living in alarming poverty there are 21 times more likely than their peers to be illiterate.  To help break this cycle, the “MSC for UNICEF” initiative works with 126 vulnerable communities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paolo, giving them access to a quality education.

MSC Cruises will also work to raise awareness among guests on its cruise ships, leaving an informational brochure in every stateroom, and encouraging  financial contributions to the “Get on Board for Children” program.  A donation of any amount can simply be added to a guests’ onboard bill.

If you plan to cruise to South America, check out MSC’s offerings, and be sure to ask your travel agent about this program.
