MIAMI BEACH_Last December, we learned that the Bahamas Paradise Cruise Lines’ ship, Grand Classica, would be converted to Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, taking the iconic Jimmy Buffet brand to the waves for the first time.
In advance of the official launch, set for May 14, spokespersons for the ship appeared at a press conference here at Seatrade Cruise Global to reveal more details about the ship’s entertainment options.
Tamara Baldanza-Dekker, Chief Marketing Officer of Margaritaville, said the ship’s main attraction will be “Tales from Margaritaville: Jimmy’s Ship Show,” written and produced by Jimmy Buffett and noted Producer Frank Marshall, known for teaming with Steven Spielberg for the “Raiders” and “Jurassic Park” movies. The show is inspired by Buffet’s bestselling book, “Tales from Margaritaville.”
“It’s been very cool working with Jimmy to put together a ship show filled with his unforgettable songs and stories,” said Frank Marshall in the company’s press release. “I can’t wait for the maiden voyage!”
Francis Riley, Chief Commercial Officer of Margaritaville at Sea, said “We are thrilled with the response we’ve received since announcing Margaritaville at Sea, both from our travel advisor partners and the public at large.”
Guests can expect to immediately be immersed in the island state-of-mind Buffet has made famous, from “Fins Up Crew” team members to Margaritaville stilt walkers.
Other venues onboard include the 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria, Port of Indecision Buffet, the Euphoria Lounge and the License to Chill Bar. The Oasis Room will feature musicians, late-night comedy, game shows, streaming concerts at sea and kids programming.
Margaritaville at Sea Paradise will sail from the port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island, where guests also have the option of “cruise and stay” at one of the Grand Bahama resorts. Those who stay will need to obtain a Bahamas Health Visa.
There’s no doubt this ship will give rise to a whole new generation of Parrotheads who’ll enjoy a “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and so much more. As Ms. Baldanza-Dekker said, “It’s a marriage made in Heaven.”
