JRE chefs embark on exclusive cultural expedition cruises aboard Swan Hellenic’s luxurious designer ships. Chef Borja Marrero, renowned for his creativity and focus on sustainability at the restaurant MuXgo in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain will embark on the Swan Hellenic SH Diana for the “Mysteries of Carthage and the Moors” voyage from Lisbon to Palermo, taking place from August 17 to 27, 2023.
Maris takes guests on a remarkable journey of gastronomic discovery, where the culinary creativity of JRE chefs is fueled by their dedication to tradition, sustainability, and the use of quality local ingredients. As part of this extraordinary initiative, Chef Borja Mattero will bring his exceptional talent and passion to create truly unforgettable dining experiences.
Born and raised in Gran Canaria, Green Michelin star Chef Borja Marrero has a deep connection with the local cuisine and ingredients unique to his island home. With experience spanning Spain, the USA, and Mexico, he has initiated a KM0 project in Las Palmas, which embodies a completely sustainable and “closed circle” approach. At MuXgo Restaurant, guests experience high quality and creativity fused with the principles of a KM0 approach.
Borja Marrero will be onboard of the SH Diana ship from August 17 to 27, 2023. This journey departing from Lisbon offers a historical odyssey of Portuguese, Spanish, North African, and Italian coastal gems. The curated voyage on a boutique ship promises to be a feast for all the senses. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the passionate culture and flamenco of Seville, wander through North Africa’s most enchanting souks and medinas, and uncover the long-lost secrets of Tunisia’s once mighty Phoenician city, Carthage. This unforgettable 10-night expedition along the North African Coasts concludes in Sicily.
Throughout the voyage, guests will have the privilege of savoring Chef Marrero’s signature dishes, enjoying a specially curated menu for a Gala Dinner, and attending a captivating cooking show. Chef Borja will also lead gastronomic excursions ashore, providing guests with a unique opportunity to explore local culinary traditions and specialties.
