Hurtigruten launches smartphone app and new website design – featuring a wealth of information, booking info, maps, schedules, and more

Hurtigruten has unveiled a new free mobile app for iPhones and Android smartphones – aptly named “Hurtigruten Web App” – providing access to sailing schedules, bookings, departure times, ship positions and more.  Easy to use, the app is available at and information is stored on the phone so access is available offline as well.  Future upgrades are expected to further add to its usefulness.

The company has also done a major revamp of its website, which features a fresh design and easy-to-use navigation capabilities and allows visitors to pinpoint their interests faster. The site offers itinerary details, pricing information, history of the line, booking access, videos, current news and special offers.  It also provides the opportunity for visitors to join a photo competition, sign up for the Hurtigruten blogs and newsletter, or find assistance in planning a dream voyage.  Links to sub-pages include schedule and booking information for the award-winning Norwegian Coastal Voyage, the company’s very popular series of Exploration Cruises to some of the world’s most remote regions (the Arctic island of Spitsbergen, Antarctica and Greenland), and port-heavy European itineraries.  The site also provides details about theme sailings, optional and included excursions, and ship specifications.  It gives users the opportunity to request brochures, get travel insurance information, view ship web cams, and learn about the company’s longstanding commitment to the environment and sustainable travel.

The site organizes cruises by destination – Norway, Greenland, Spitsbergen, Europe and Antarctica – and a click of the mouse offers up all the details of any specific cruise: day-to-day itinerary, optional excursions, pricing, departure dates, historical and port information, travel tips, and any savings programs.
