April 29, 2021: Today, Disney pulled the curtain back on their newest ship, Disney Wish, and judging from the what they spotlighted, it will be everything a family could “wish” for in a cruise vacation.
Known for their story-telling and immersive experiences, Wish will take that to a whole new level when it sets sail in the summer of 2022.
The video session, led by Cruise Director Ashley Long, with help from Mickey, Minnie and other Disney executives, showcased a wide range of features, including:
— The AquaMouse, their first attraction at sea. Guests will experience the “Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” as they travel 760 feet around the top deck in an immersive water ride. Also topside is a retreat for adults and the “Toy Story Splash Zone” for kids.
— Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is an out-of-this-world spaceship/bar reserved for adults in the evenings. Sip a cocktail while you travel the Star Wars galaxy.
— Kids will find plenty of activities to choose from at the Oceaneer Club, from the Marvel Superhero Academy to the interactive Imagineering Lab. The entrance is a twisting slide where kids land inside the club. Parents will be jealous.
— “Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure” is another first on Wish. It continues the “Frozen” story as an immersive dining experience. If you like a little adventure with your food, there’s also the “Worlds of Marvel,” a “Marvel cinematic dining adventure, where guests will play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around them.” For adults, there’s The Rose bar, Palo Steakhouse and the upscale Enchanté, featuring dishes from Chef Arnaud Lallement.
— Another dining venue is “1923,” named for the year the Disney company was founded. Showcasing the golden age of animation, it combines California cuisine with Hollywood glamour, and features more than 1,000 drawings and props from the history of animation.
Additionally, Wish will feature the line’s first two-story suites and a new entertainment hub, “Luna,” which will serve up family fun during the day and transition to an adult oasis at night.
Disney Wish’s maiden voyage — a five-night cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay — will be June 9, 2022, followed by an inaugural season of three- and four-night cruises to the same destinations from Port Canaveral, Florida. Bookings open to the general public on May 27, 2021.
