Driving Directions to the Port of Charleston:
Travel Time: 12 miles from the Charleston International Airport; approximately 30 minutes
Traveling from I-95 North or South
- Take I-26 (S.E.) toward Charleston.
- Exit at 219B
- At bottom of ramp turn left onto Mt. Pleasant Street
- Follow through light and across tracks onto Morrison Dr. Morrison Dr. will turn into East Bay street .
- Follow 2.0 miles and turn left onto Chapel Street
- Continue on Washington Street to Union Pier.
- Terminal approximately.5 miles on left.
Traveling from US Highway 17 North or South
- Follow U.S. 17 South to the Arthur Ravenel Bridge
- Once on the bridge exit at Morrison Dr. exit.
- Morrison Dr. will turn into East Bay Street
- Travel approximately 1.0 mile to the intersection of East Bay and Chapel Street.
- Turn left onto Chapel Street
- Follow Chapel around bend where it turns into Washington Street.
- Follow Washington Street across Calhoun to the entrance to Union Pier
- Terminal approximately.5 miles on left.
Parking Information and Fees:
Standard size vehicles (up to 20 ft. length) – $15/day
Oversized vehicles (ie. campers, rv’s, etc.) – $35/day
Vehicles displaying handicap permits – no fee
(Person permit was issued to must be traveling in the vehicle)
Cash, credit cards, traveler’s checks or personal checks are the current accepted forms of payment. Checks should be made payable to the S. C. State Ports Authority. Checks written on non-U.S. banks and financial institutions are not accepted.
Port Police will be stationed along the travel route to direct guests to the appropriate parking areas.
A complimentary shuttle service operates between the vehicle storage areas and the Passenger Terminal. The areas are just a few minutes from the Passenger Terminal, but the shuttle provides a comfortable way for passengers to arrive at the check-in location. Handicap accessible shuttles are also available.
