Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line Offering Free Evacuations To Those On Grand Bahama Island
As reported by CNN in coverage of Hurricane Dorian and help being offered to the people of the Bahamas suffering from the damage from the hurricane:
“Apart from the Bahamas we have no other home, so it was like the destruction was in our backyard,” CEO Oneil Khosa told CNN. “We felt like we had to do this for the people of the Bahamas and the island of Grand Bahama, especially given our history with the island.”
Bahamas Paradise is also asking for specific items to be donated at their warehouse in Riviera Beach, Florida, as well as monetary resources in partnership with the Mission Resolve Foundation.
Other cruise lines are reported to be offering assistance, supplies and other help. Royal Caribbean and NCL are providing the Bahamas with supplies, including generators, water, cleaning supplies, clean sheets and towels. Both lines will also donate at least $1 million each to the relief efforts in the islands, according to their press releases. Disney, which also cruises to the Bahamas, announced it will donate more than $1 million to relief efforts as well.
