Princess is well known for “pioneering” Alaska; they were one of the first cruise lines to explore the area. And now, it seems, Princess has set its sights on Hawaii.
Over the next two winters, Princess will sail out of the west coast ports of San Francisco and Los Angeles to Hawaii, with stops at each of the four main islands. They intend to do so more than 50 times- more than any other cruise line. The lines new Hawaii season runs September 28, 2011, through April 25, 2012
The goal of these voyages is to provide passengers with the true feeling of Hawaii; the line will offer Hawaiian language lessons, lei making, playing the ukulele, and hula dance lessons. Naturalists will be onboard to identify local wildlife, and cultural flair will be reflected in the Hawaiian cuisine offered; the menu is heavy on fish and seafood, and luau fare such as roast pig, coconut and macadamia nuts.
The Golden Princess and Sapphire Princess will sail 14-day cruises to the Big Island (Hilo), Oahu’s capital city (Honolulu), Maui and the Garden Isle of Kauai. Departures in the 2012-13 season will be from September 26 and April 24.
In 2012, both the Star Princess and the Grand Princess will offer 15-day round-trip voyages from San Francisco which will call at all four islands. Those departures will run from March 19, 2012 to April 25, 2013.
There will also be a 28-day itinerary to Hawaii, Pago Pago, Apia, Bora Bora, Moorea and Tahiti. The Sapphire Princess sails October 20, 2012, and the Star Princess on March 26, 2013; both are round trip from Los Angeles.
