Princess and the American Heart Association- Cruising for a Cause

American Heart Princess 2Princess began a program back in 2012 called “Cruising for a Cause”, which is their support of different charities.  There’s a Veteran’s Cruise going at this very moment (4-day Western Caribbean cruise onboard Caribbean Princess® November 5 – 9, 2013) whose goal is to raise up to $1 million for U.S. Veterans organizations.

Next on the initiative’s agenda is a fundraiser for the American Heart Association.  It’s goal, too, is to raise $1 million, this time in support of the AHA’s heart health and educational programs.

The cruise will be a 5-day Western Caribbean voyage, round trip from Ft. Lauderdale, departing February 10-15, 2014 aboard the Ruby Princess®.

For those of you not familiar with the ship, here are some of the many features that make this such an appealing cruise:

The Sanctuary-  Passengers will leave their stress at the door upon entering The Sanctuary, where they can experience a soothing massage, recline in a lounge chair with headphones enjoy spa fare and refreshing fruit drinks.

The Piazza- Enjoy paninis and pastries in the International Cafe, a wide variety of wines by the glass in Vines Wine Bar, and live entertainment in the Italian-inspired Piazza.

Movies Under the Stars- See feature films, concerts, sporting events and other entertainment on a giant screen, poolside with a drink and a complimentary bag of popcorn.

Lotus Spa & Fitness- Get pampered from head to toe for an hour of bliss or the entire day- or spend time with a personal trainer .

Here’s how it works: When you book this cruise, depending on your stateroom category, a tax-deductible portion of your cruise fare (ranging from $100 to $300* per person) will be matched by Princess® and donated on your behalf to the American Heart Association.

Princess lists the following as cruise highlights:

  •  Innovative Healthy Cooking Demonstrations featuring celebrity Chef Marc Anthony Bynum, finalist on Food Network’s Chopped
  •  Diana Wentworth – author of Chicken Soup for the Soul, survivor and speaker
  • Ruby Red Gala
  •  Fundraising Walk on Deck
  • Heart Disease and Stroke Survivor Programs
  • Valentine’s Day themed programming including a special onboard renewal of vows
  •  Hands-OnlyTM CPR
  • Complimentary blood pressure screenings!
