A few years ago, Jamie Oliver, Food Network chef, established a program called Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, aimed at improving nutrition for children in public schools. The philosophy?
“Imagine a world where children were fed tasty and nutritious, real food at school from the age of 4 to 18. A world where every child was educated about how amazing food is, where it comes from, how it affects the body and how it can save their lives”. – Jamie Oliver

His work on this front turned me into a fan, so I was pleased to see that he’ll be undertaking another endeavor, two Jamie’s Italian restaurants aboard Royal Caribbean Ships. The first will open on the Quantum of the Seas in October, and the second aboard Anthem of the Seas in 2015.
Oliver will be deeply involved in the creation of the restaurants, adhering to his well-known pattern of high standards, and will oversee the space, staff training and menus. Signature dishes onboard will include seafood bucatini, crab spaghettini, and porchetta.
Oliver’s team will work closely with farmers and fisherman in New Jersey to make sure food is ethically sourced, and he also wants to cook on board, hopefully establishing a program to cook with children.
What a great way to get kids involved with nutrition and cooking! Sign us up!
