Seasoned world travelers, here’s some good news! Hapag-Lloyd’s, known as Germany’s premier line, is introducing two new ships. (Not familiar withHapag-Lloyd? This line tends to cater to an upscale, educated, conservative, and well-traveled crowd. The attract passengers who are interested exploring the world and learning about their ports of call.)
The new 516-passenger Europa 2 will offer 7-day summertime cruises in the Mediterranean, and faraway destinations in the winter. This ship is the namesake of Hapag-Lloyds Europa, a delightful full-service, deluxe ship that offers the highest level of service and luxury. The Europa 2 will mirror it’s amenities, while offering a more modern and casual luxury option.
The Columbus 2, with a capacity of 698 passengers, will offer amenities such as a variety of restaurants and bars, an airy spa, and richly appointed wellness area. Summertime itineraries will start at 7-12 days and cruise the Mediterranean Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Nordic countries. During the winter months, the Columbus 2 is scheduled to offer world tours.
Note: Hapag-Lloyd Cruises does attract a predominantly German-speaking clientele. The ships will enter service in 2012 and 2013.
