There's so much to do and see here that it's worth getting an early start (off by 8 or 8:30 if you can). You can book a hop-on/off tour by the pier, with good guides and the ability to visit many interesting places, then hop back on to the next one(s). Many guidebooks will list important historical sites, museums, colleges, parks, and neighborhoods. A port not to be missed.

We took a great tour of Boston With Boston Private Tours. Our tour guide Francesca knew all of Boston's history and believe me there is history everywhere. The houses, the churches, the Freedom Trail, the cemeteries and the restaurants. So much to see.
