You may have heard of the “Christmas Cruises” that are so popular in Europe, (if not, click here, they really are fantastic), but for many of us the holidays on a riverboat in Europe may be out of reach, financially, or simply due to time constraints.
So I was pleased to see this information come across today about a domestic cruise option that still allows vacationers to spend the holidays on a lovely and relaxing small ship cruise- Blount Small Ship Adventures’ ‘Southern Antebellum: Charleston to Jacksonville’ cruise. This unique holiday cruise travels down the Eastern Seaboard for an immersive experience of an authentic southern holiday celebration.
Here’s information straight from the line:
The 8-day, 7-night Southern Antebellum itinerary departs Charleston, SC on Dec. 4 and navigates the Eastern Seaboard, through the small rivers of the southern coast, to arrive in Jacksonville, FL. To celebrate the holiday season, a variety of onboard activities will be offered, including carolers, classic holiday movies, and tree decorating. The special holiday cruise will also offer optional excursions like visiting the Charleston Festival of Lights; viewing the holiday light displays of historic homes in Beaufort, SC and Savannah, GA; touring the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens adorned in festive holiday décor, and more.
Blount offers a nice set of inclusions; three fresh meals daily that often reflect local cuisine, refreshments and snacks 24 hours a day, and complimentary wine and beer during lunch and dinner. And unlike many larger cruise lines, Blount cruises also feature a BYOB policy, providing mixers and set-ups for cocktails available throughout the day.
They are also offering some specials: Guests who book by Sept. 30 will save $400 per person and receive free onboard early arrival, with rates starting at $1,999 per person ($2,399 prior to discount). In addition to a savings of $400 per person, travelers who book by Sept. 30 will receive a free night onboard the Grande Mariner ship before departing Charleston, SC. Early arrival includes one dinner and breakfast per person, a $300 value per couple.
